This Privacy Policy explains how Pethood collects, uses, and protects your personal data, and the rights you have under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Croatian data protection law. It applies to the Pethood apps, website, and related services (the "Service").

Data we collect
Account data
Your name or display name, email address, password (stored hashed), and any authentication identifiers if you sign in via a third party.
Profile & pet data
Your profile photo and bio, and details about your pets (name, species, breed, age, photos). You choose what to add.
Location data
Because Pethood is hyperlocal, we process approximate or precise location to show you nearby pets, people, places, and activity. You control location precision: you can use a coarse/approximate area instead of exact location, hide your location, or turn location sharing off in your settings or your device. We only use precise location when you enable it.
Content & activity
Posts, photos, questions and answers, reviews, kudos, playdate and favour activity, messages with other members, reports and blocks you submit, and your interactions in the app.
Device & usage data
Device type and operating system, app version, language and locale preference, IP address, crash and diagnostic logs, and usage events needed to run, secure, and improve the Service.
Purposes & legal bases
We process your data for the following purposes and legal bases under Art. 6 GDPR:

Retention
We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must keep certain data longer to meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, or enforce our agreements. Backup copies are purged on a rolling schedule.
Your rights
Subject to the GDPR, you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- rectify inaccurate or incomplete data;
- erase your data ("right to be forgotten");
- restrict or object to certain processing, including profiling and direct marketing;
- data portability — receive your data in a portable format;
- withdraw consent at any time, without affecting prior processing.
To exercise any of these, email privacy@pethood.app. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Croatian Personal Data Protection Agency (AZOP — Agencija za zaštitu osobnih podataka, azop.hr) or with your local supervisory authority.
International transfers
We aim to process data within the European Economic Area (EEA). Where a provider processes data outside the EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards — such as an EU adequacy decision or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses — to protect your data.
Children
Pethood is intended for users aged 18 and over. Where local law permits use by minors, it must be with the consent and supervision of a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect data from children without such consent; if you believe a minor has provided us data, contact us and we will remove it.
Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures — including encryption in transit, hashed passwords, and access controls — to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to notify you and the authorities of a personal-data breach where the law requires.
Changes
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, take reasonable steps to notify you.
